Medical Marijuana Laws in New Mexico
Bill Richardson ( former governor) of New Mexico authorized the Lynn and Erin Compassionate Use Act’s passage into law in 2007. This made the cultivation, processing, selling, buying, and using medicinal marijuana lawful.
Senate Bill 523 permits patients to grow up to six mature plants. It allows the purchase of up to 15 ounces of marijuana over 90 days (with a maximum of 12 plants per home). Remember that only residents of New Mexico with valid cards are permitted access to medicinal marijuana.

Adults patients over the age of 18 who are applying for a medical marijuana card in New Mexico will need the following:

Medical Marijuana for Adult Use
Adult-use marijuana sales started in New Mexico on Friday, April 1, 2022. Marijuana can now be bought legally in New Mexico by adults 21 and older. Adults are permitted to cultivate up to six mature and six immature cannabis plants, with a maximum of 12 mature plants per household, as well as to possess, buy, and give other adults up to two ounces of marijuana, up to 16 grams of marijuana concentrate, and 800 milligrams of edible cannabis.

There is no tax on medical purchases of up to 15 ounces (425 units) of cannabis in 90 days. Purchase up to 2 ounces of marijuana, 16 grams of extract, or 800 milligrams of edible marijuana for adult use at one time.
Cultivation of Medical Marijuana
Home cultivation is allowed in New Mexico with a limit of 12 plants, Six mature and 12 immature plants.
Eligibility For a Primary Caregiver
The patient’s doctor assigns a primary caregiver to manage the health of a qualified patient who uses marijuana for medical purposes. A New Mexico resident must be the primary caregiver and be at least 18 years or above.
